Getting to know the mocking bird
It's 5:15 am, and I have yet to fall asleep. I've peed 18 times, eaten left over chicken, drinken some apple juice, fixed steamed milk, read "Baby Talk" magazine, downloaded photos, put together the baby swing, surfed the net and I'm still up staring blankly at the computer screen. I guess I should get used to it, but I can't help but feeling a little bit guilty, like I'm keeping myself up, because I am so freakin' excited! I can't believe our baby could be arriving anytime in the next 2 weeks. I can't stop thinking about it. It's amazing. I feel like I can't wait another minute to meet this little moving worm inside of me. Who is he/she? What will they look like? I can't wait to hold its hand, and its little foot. I want to bathe it and play with it and talk to it. I want to look into its eyes and tell it what a great journey this is. My stomach has butterflies at the thought that this is really happening. I don't mean to romanticize it, because I know it will be full of its challenges, but I am so ready to meet this kid, it's ridiculous. Until then, I'm getting to know the patterns of the bird calls outside our window during the early morning hours, and staring at the changing table, and adding things to the hospital bag, and delighting in the awe of this perfect unfolding......
